2. Testing BitDefender for Linux Console
----------------------------------------

To scan your file system for viruses you will use bdc program with
specific options/arguments. To see the full list of options for bdc,
login in the system as an user with valid shell and run:
bdc --help

You can verify that BitDefender works properly with the help of a
special test file, known as EICAR Standard Anti-virus Test file. (EICAR
stands for the European Institute of Computer Anti-virus Research).
This is a dummy file, which is also detected by other anti-virus
products.

No need to worry, because this file is not a real virus. All that
EICAR.COM does when executed is to display the text
'EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE' and exit.

The reason we do not include the file within the package is that we want
to avoid generating any false alarms for those who use BitDefender or
any other scanner. However, you can find the content of the file at the
following Web address: http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

Save the file to any name with COM extension, for example EICAR.COM.
From now on, you can use this file to see what happens when BitDefender
detects a real virus.

3. What is BitDefender v7.0 for Linux Console?
------------------------------------------------

The acquisition and installation of an antivirus product for the
company's systems is the most efficient way of preventing the infection
of a computer and the spreading of viruses inside the company, and
outside the company as well.

BitDefender for Linux Console is the solution SOFTWIN offers for the
antivirus protection of Linux systems. The product is designed and
implemented in a modular manner, thus it can easily adapt to any work
environement.

All the files specified in the command line are scanned using the
BitDefender scan engines. The scan engines identify all the viruses
presents in the attachments, including RAR, ZIP, ARJ, LZH, LHA, ACE,
GZIP, TARGZ, JAR, UUE, MIME or CAB archives, no matter how they were
created (self-extractable, multivolume, etc).

In case an infection is found, it will be treated corresponding to the
selected option (disinfection, deletion or isolation in the quarantine
area) and alarm messages will be sent to the log file, as well as to
console.

For ensuring a superior and efficient antivirus protection, BitDefender
for Linux Console was designed with a function for the update of the
virus definitions.

Features:
      - Antivirus protection for the file system
      - Updating the virus definitions directly from BitDefender server
      - Possibility of isolating the infected file in the quarantine
        zone
      - Detailed statistics and reports regarding the number of scanned
files, the infected files, the deleted and disinfected files
