pipehelp -- X Utility

Modify buffering of data through pipes
pipehelp

Because X Windows for COHERENT uses named pipes to emulate sockets, some
applications show problems when they attempt to pass too much data through
a pipe/socket connection at once. The utility pipehelp help to work around
this problem.

To use pipehelp, do the following:

-> Invoke X through startx, as you usually do.

-> When your terminal window appears, su to the superuser root, and then
   type the following commands:

       pipehelp &

Note that pipehelp is assigned the display unix:1.0. If you are having a
problem with an application, use its option -display to have it work with
pipehelp's display. For example, to have the application xcalc work with
pipehelp, invoke it with the command:

    xcalc -display unix:1.0
