Description: open source AI coding agent for the terminal
opencode is an open-source AI coding agent. It provides an interactive
terminal UI (TUI), a headless server, and a scriptable CLI that can read,
edit and run code, manage sessions, and talk to many LLM providers
(OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Bedrock, OpenRouter, ...).
 .
The program is built with the Bun toolchain and is shipped as a
self-contained compiled binary (the Bun runtime and all JavaScript
dependencies are embedded), so it has no Node.js runtime dependency.
 .
The package includes the embedded web UI. The desktop launcher starts
`opencode serve` (the `web` command was renamed upstream), which runs the
local API and web server and prints its URL so the UI can be opened in
the browser. The interactive terminal UI and all other commands remain
available by running `opencode` from a terminal.
 .
Build note: opencode is built from source with Bun (not packaged in
Debian). The Bun toolchain and the npm dependencies (pinned by the
upstream bun.lock) are fetched from the network at build time, so the
build requires a network-enabled build worker and will not run on an
offline buildd. The models.dev provider catalog is no longer fetched
at build time (upstream 2.x ships it as a committed snapshot in the
source; the program refreshes it at runtime).
