Bugs and warnings
=================

The MCC interim release of Linux assembles code from many sources.
Bugs have been fixed in some cases, but created in others. I would
appreciate any bug reports or fixes. Please send them by e-mail to me
at `LeBlanc@mcc.ac.uk'.

  1. The command `mkfs.ext2' sometimes fails to create a file system
because there is not enough space for the last superblock. To work
around this, reduce the number of blocks slightly. Remy Card has
     promised a fix eventually.

  2. The command `umount -a -t noproc' appears to leave the proc file
system mounted, but removes its entry from `/etc/mtab'.

  3. Certain commands when received by the ftp daemon cause the response
`425 Can't build data connection: Transport endpoint is already
connected'. If you are lucky, try them again, and they will work.

  4. The `rcp' command sometimes hangs without copying the last
     partially full buffer.

  5. The command `makewhatis -c' puts a lot of rubbish in
     `/usr/man/whatis'.

  6. Installation failed on systems with SCSI disks with more than 1024
     cylinders. Fixed 6 May 1993.

  7. The file `rc.net' created by install.net from the tcpip package
created a useless file in `/' during every boot. Fixed 6 May 1993.
